It is another new year. Hard to believe! Time is going by so quickly. This year I will be turning 50. That is even harder to believe! I can’t help but think about how different my life would be right now had I not found Cambridge again. If I hadn’t and I had remained on the path I was on, I don’t know if I would even still be here. I was over 320+ pounds, diabetic, disabled with arthritis and chronic pain, had heart disease including high BP, and life was hardly worth living. My list of health problems grew every month. It was not looking too promising that I would live to see 45 much less 50!
Thankfully I DID find Cambridge again and I was able to not only lose the weight, but recover my health to the point that the past 8 years have been amazing…more then I could have ever imagined. Because of my Cambridge business I was also able to build a financial future for my family that included buying our first home in California and then our beautiful home here in Utah with the lovely Provo river right behind it as well as vacations and other luxuries that we used to only dream about. Those things were for other people, not for us, at least that is what I had always believed. I was an obese disabled single mom on public assistance just trying to survive with what little I brought in watching a few kids every day. When you are that far down you can’t see up. Never would I have ever believed what life had in store for me and my little family.
With the new year just beginning I know that some of you are feeling like I once did. Hopelessness is a heavy burden that adds to the weight of obesity and poor health. Feeling like you have no control or power over your eating effects every aspect of your life, not just your weight. It is hard to feel good about yourself when you see yourself as weak or incapable of managing something as basic as what you eat each day or the other choices you make regarding your lifestyle. It effects your family and other relationships, the choices you make regarding your work or leisure time, it even effects the most basic things like what you wear and whether you will even leave the house. What a tragic waste of your time here.
We all only get one pass at this life and the questions you need to ask yourself are these…are you content with the choices your are making? Are you happy with the level of your health? Are your personal relationships as satisfying as you would like them to be? Are you pursuing your goals and ambitions without reserve or making excuses for why you are not? Is weight playing a part in any of these things not being what you would ideally want them to be? If the answer is yes then how much more of your life are you willing to sacrifice to food and unhealthy living?
Losing weight can seem like the impossible dream. We all start and stop diets like they were traffic lights. Monday comes, (or a birthday or a new year or a reunion or wedding or…well…you get the idea!) and we have the best of intentions. We start off great but then as the day wears on temptations get the best of us and we eventually toss in the towel as we toss in the potato chips. All the self depreciating head talk begins and we convince ourselves that we are somehow flawed. By the end of the day we have talked ourselves in to believing that we are unworthy of being thin or healthy or even in some cases…loved. We resolve to begin again tomorrow…or maybe next Monday. You can all relate, I know.
With everything going on in the world right now that we have no control over the one thing we can control is our own personal choice. For most people finances are strained and you may hesitate to spend any money on something for yourself like Cambridge. With that in mind I would like to give my top ten reasons for beginning or continuing on with your Cambridge Diet and health program. Here goes!
1. Fewer doctor bills.
2. Less trips to the grocery store and unnecessary spending.
3. Skinny clothes are less expensive with better selections.
4. Joining a gym is cheaper then health insurance.
5. Taking a hike, playing basketball, tennis or other physical activities are free.
6. Being able to ride a bike saves gas and car expense, not to mention our environment.
7. You can save all that money that used to go to expensive calorie loaded coffees and buy Cambridge instead.
8. You can finally wear all those clothes in the back of your closet that have been there since the 80’s. Hey! Some of that stuff is back in style!
9. No more hiding fast food bags and the receipts in the car so no one knows how much money you spend on junk food runs
10. Cambridge is cheaper then food!
Considering all of these reasons and the many more not listed how can you find any excuse not to do it? This opportunity only comes around once every 365 days. You can all wake up Jan 1st 2009 and walk in to your new way of living. A healthy and rewarding and successful life that may now seem like the impossible dream, but believe me when I say that it IS possible! 8 years ago I could not have been in a darker place. When I think about those years my heart aches for all that I missed out on while I indulged my eating and lifestyle excesses all the while convincing myself that this was something that had happened TO me, not BECAUSE of me. It was a lie I believed in for most of my life. Whatever you are telling yourself to justify your weight problem is probably a lie too, plain and simple. It is hard to feel good if you are not being honest with yourself and the people closest to you. There is no better time to face your personal truth and move on to the life your were meant to have. It is like walking out in to the sun after a long dark winter. 2009 is YOUR time to shine!
